If these three things are absent
in your relationship, you might aswell kiss the relationship
goodbye.Relationships are sparked by
attraction and interest, butcan hardly be kept alive on just
these things. It requires a lot more than that
to keep a relationship healthy. While the list of the things that
hold a relationship together couldstretch from here to there, some
of these things are actually a lotmore important than others. For all relationships to thrive
and stand the test of time, these threethings have to be present and
taken more serious than all others…
1. Trust
The very bottom line of genuinely falling in love with someone istrust… a kind of belief in them that they won’t break your heart, thatthey won’t do you dirty.A relationship without trust is one wherein partners constantly walkon eggshells, wherein they can’t vouch for one another, and onewherein honesty is nowhere to be found.A relationship without total trust or at least 75% trust betweenpartners is not ideal, and is prone to breaking apart by some littletest.
2. Communication
Relationships do not suddenly
attain perfection, and no matter howeasily two people hit the ground
running, there are still going to bedifferences here and there which
could ruin the chances of thatrelationship getting to a stage
they might have envisaged when itbegan. This is where communication comes
in. Proper communication isthat thing that smoothen out the
creases in a relationship, andbeing able to discuss issues and
talk through difficult patches cannever be over-emphasized.Of course, adequate communication
might be most useful duringbad times in a relationship, but
its importance is not limited to justthose times. It is an important
tool to be put to use at all times, good or bad.
3. Commitment
Of these three, this is by all
means the most important.Relationships can only stay alive
when partners show a willingnessand the required work to keep it
alive and make it work.Commitment in a relationship
seems to incorporate almost allother traits - faithfulness,
honesty, consideration, compromise, respect, loyalty, etc.A relationship without both
partners' commitment will most likelyfail, because this is what fuels
their desire to remain in therelationship, this is what pushes
them to do all that is needed tomake their partner happy and
satisfied, it is what makes themreach compromises and make all
sacrifices needed to make therelationship work.If your relationship is without
this and the other two thingsmentioned in this article, you
just might as well kiss therelationship goodbye - because it
is only a matter of time before itcomes crumbling to dust.
